Using WordPress for collaborative editing

If you are using WordPress in a collaborative environment , say a group of students, co-workers, or a civic organization that publishes documents online, you can also co-edit documents by WordPress and Participate.

Participate is a WordPress plugin that bridges between a previous installation of Etherpad lite , so it is not installed and ready, but the result is to have a system for creating and editing notes and really intuitive and powerful.

The first step, then, is Etherpad lite download and install it on any server you have, or in the current folder. Once this is done we can complete the plugin settings screen (after installing and activating it, of course), where you have to add the URL where you installed Etherpad lite, and an API key you'll find the file APIKEY.txt .

From this point you will notice two significant changes, one in the WordPress editor and one on the live site, and your editor will have a new set of icons for managing collaborative editing your site . Actually the editor converts of Etherpad, adapted for group editing .

Another interesting feature is a notebook , also collaborative, you can add in the sidebar or anywhere you want.
